Edna questions herself strongly about her relationship with Robert and “the two contradictory impulses which impelled her”(pg.25).She finds her identity and her place as a “wisdom descend upon the soul of a young woman of twenty-eight..more wisdom then the holy ghost is usually pleased to vouchsafe to any woman”(pg.25) . The temptation around her is huge and appealing “in its soft embrace”(pg. 25).
