Edna has always been very within herself but, it all started to change in this summer. One of the most influential was Mdm. Ratignlleo “for Edna had a sensuous susceptibility to beauty”(pg.26). They go for a walk to the beach and Edna convinces Mdm. R to leave the children but not the needlework.They sit on the porch of the bathhouse,” Pontellier and Ratignolle compartments adjoined under the same roof”(pg28. ). There are other people going on reading, playing, swimming, and a young couple”exchanging their hearts’ yearnings under a tent”(pg.29).
Edna comes to her full sense of how her marriage was and accident which shouldn’t have happened. How much her relationship has changed. Her love for her children is not always there, she loves them. The part she doesn’t want to admit is “their absence was a sort of relief”(Chopin, pg.33). Soe of all this Mdm. R is told but not all. Robert comes with the children of both women and the nursemaids. The kids go and play at the tent and Edna joins them. Mdm. R and Robert leave because Mdm. R is in cramp pain.
