Edna is now back in the city and decides to go visit Mademoiselle Reisz. She finds the apartment lonely and waits for her arrival. During her wait, the black girl brings in Mademoiselle Reisz belongings. The wait continues and she finds small things to occupy herself while waiting. Then the wind brings Robert who like Edna is surprised and shocked to see her. They talk and Edna comes out as repulsive in a way like a crazy girlfriend.  They are awkward in some ways, because of the secrets they hold.

Edna and Robert leave to her home due to Mademoiselle Reisz not making an appearance now that it was getting late. They go to her home and hold a conversation. Robert is invited to stay over for dinner. This sweet moment is ruined by Robert finding a picture of Alcee Arobin, who he portrays a strong distaste for. This shows that he does care and still has a special thing for Edna.
